Meaningful Suspense – February 2009

February 26, 2009

Dear Reader,

Adam BlumerOnly thirty-six days left until the release of Fatal Illusions on March 31! I’ve experienced several blessings since Jan. 19, when many of you responded to my Count Your Blessings Book Giveaway and sent me inspiring stories about how God has been working in your lives. Thank you for sharing your heart-warming stories. God is indeed at work, and I think it’s always important to remember that fact. Then when the tough times come, memories of His goodness help us keep the right perspective.

Pray for My Dad

Speaking of tough times, my family has been going through the fire since Jan. 28, when doctors diagnosed my dad with brain cancer. Brain surgery this past Sunday, Feb. 22, in Milwaukee went without a hitch, and Dad has already been released and is doing surprisingly well. Praise God! Please pray for my dad and my family during this time. Our desire, of course, is that Dad would be healed and that the Lord would be glorified through this trial. I’ll be posting regular updates here for those who are interested.

Fatal Illusions Appears in CBD Catalog

Since I was a kid, my family has received the CBD catalogs in the mail. Maybe you get them too. Several years ago, long before a book publisher ever expressed interest in anything I’d written, I had a dream. Can you guess what that dream was? I dreamed that I’d see my novel in the CBD catalog. On Feb. 5, God made that dream come true when I received my CBD Winter/Spring 2009 Fiction Catalog in the mail and saw Fatal Illusions on page 24. (You can view the whole catalog here.) Check it out! “Desire realized is sweet to the soul” (Prov. 13:19 NASB).

Fatal Illusions Available at BJU Campus Bookstore

The book buyer at the campus bookstore of my alma mater, Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC), where I earned a BA in print journalism, recently e-mailed me and said he’s excited about the release of Fatal Illusions. He’s planning to sell the novel at the campus bookstore. The novel is already available for pre-order through the bookstore Web site at a special price. Check it out here! A couple of my former writing professors have also agreed to help promote the novel on campus.

Win a FREE Copy of Fatal Illusions

Novelist Amber Stockton will be interviewing me at her blog on Friday, March 6. Be sure to visit her blog on that day, read my interview, and look for a place for visitors to leave comments. Out of those who comment on the interview, one will be selected at random to receive a free copy of Fatal Illusions. Put March 6 on your calendar and plan to participate! You may learn something new about me.

Book Giveaway Winner and Announcement

Congratulations to Cheryl Hairgrove for winning my last book drawing. She will receive a free copy of Steal Away (Teri Blake-Addison Mystery Series #1) by Christian suspense novelist Linda Hall. For my next drawing, starting today through March 25, I will be giving away a copy of Private Justice (Newpointe 911 Series #1) by Christian suspense novelist Terri Blackstock. If you would like to enter the drawing, please visit this page at my Web site and participate in My Favorite Things Book Giveaway. Please invite family and friends to take part as well. The more the merrier.

What’s Next for Me?

When I’m not working my regular day job as a freelance editor, I’m doing whatever I can to let people know about Fatal Illusions and to write the sequel. I’ve contacted my local library to do an “author talk” about Fatal Illusions. I’m also working on lining up a couple of local book signings and hope to have promotional postcards and bookmarks to pass out soon. Busy times!

Only thirty-six days left to go! Thanks again for your support and encouragement. May the Lord receive all the glory!

—Adam
